The Service Station Ministry Prospectus

Redefining Philanthropy for Our Generation

There are over 1.5 million non-profit organizations in the United States.  Most of these organizations are committed to providing services for others; often meeting needs that would normally be left for community agencies.  Non-Profit organizations are the soul of communities, engaging multiplied thousands of volunteers and providing invaluable services to millions that would undoubtedly not be served were it not for their existence.

These same non-profit organizations raise several billion dollars each year from the private sector to fund their programs.  The needs being met by so many worthy organizations are offered at no cost to taxpayers and the cost to replicate them governmentally would outstrip government's ability to fund them.

The idea of developing alternative sources of revenue beyond gift income is a popular one that has found few practical applications.  The locally sponsored Service Station provides a practical means for an organization to help young people in some very tangible ways, provide financial support to the non-profit organizations in the community it serves, and become a community hub where good people meet!  The comprehensive program of each Service Station is designed to be financially sustainable.

The Service Station

The Service Station is being launched as part of a strategic effort to reclaim the values, character, and spiritual sensitivities that have been lost among generations of young people.

The mission of The Service Station is that it “exists to serve and to give. As a non-profit corporation, The Service Station supports communities through programs and collaborative efforts designed to strengthen relationships.” The goal of The Service Station is "to create a comfortable and appealing environment. The desire is that The Service Station be a preferred connecting place, a place to hold a meeting, event, or special luncheon, and the destination for quality concerts and programs.” The vision is expand the influence of The Service Station across the globe with the strategic plan to work with international mission organizations in creating centers throughout the world.

The average Service Station will operate from an approximately 15,000 square foot facility that will include a bistro, conference rooms, study areas, a resource center, small group break out space, and large auditorium (Performing Arts Center).  Teenagers will assist in the management of all operations of The Service Station and a portion of business proceeds will be allocated to fund individual scholarship accounts designated for college or vocational training.  Vested student workers will be eligible to receive a college scholarship.  When added with scholarship aid from partner Christian colleges and universities, this amount might grow.

Service Station facilities will be owned and operating locally under a license agreement with Service Station International. This support organization will provide building plans, coordinate fund-raising, manage local marketing, administrate the Partnership Trust Fund and Entrepreneurial and Character Development Programs, provide guidelines for each Service Station, and create menus. Nominal fees are allocated each facility for the support services provided by Service Station International.
